Intaglio Printmaking- Etching

Presence

A letter to my future self, and a reminder to find your center, even amid the changing tides of life.

Family

An etched rendition of my Great Uncle's sculpture. A printmaker himself, I was inspired by his style and subject matter. Creating a study of his sculpture in his etching style was an incredible way to honor my late Great Uncle's work.

The Garden

Referencing a tombstone, I reflected on a lyric from Rush's “The Garden”

"the future disappears into memory,
with only a moment between
forever dwells in that moment
hope is what remains to be seen"

Leo

A three plate etching dedicated to my star sign.

Piazza della Signoria

A four plate piece. Each plate was approximately 1" wide by 3" high.

Sabine

The final piece in my final semester study centered around my trip to Florence, Italy. The method I used is called Mezzotint, however instead of a copper plate, I used a steel plate with a base hue created with aquatint.
